The contest is open to citizens of the 32 EEA member countries, Greenland and 7 West Balkan cooperating countries The EEA member countries include the 27 EU Member States, together with Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, Turkey. The West Balkan cooperating countries consist of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Kosovo under the UN Security Council Resolution 1244/99.
Contestants must be born between 1 January 1991 and 31 December 1993. Proof of identity will be required from all winners.
Should a winning entry be the result of a team effort, the prize will be awarded to one representative of the team. All team members must meet the above age requirements.
The entry can be in any of the official languages of the countries of eligibility. However all submissions must be subtitled in English, should they be in another language. Entries submitted without translated subtitles will be disregarded.
EEA employees and all members of their immediate family are not eligible to enter the competition.
Entry is free. Submission of an entry will be taken to mean acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
Submission ends at noon (CET) 11 April 2012. Late entries will not be accepted.
No responsibility is assumed on the part of the EEA for late entries or corrupted files. Incomplete entries or entries that do not comply with the above formal specifications will be automatically disqualified. Submission which do not relate to the topic will be automatically disqualified.
Due to the high volume of last-minute entries, we advise you to submit your entry well in advance of the submission deadline.

Note: Winners may be requested to provide a high resolution version of their videos for promotional use.
Any video submitted must be the work of the individual or team submitting it and must not have been published elsewhere or have won a prize in any other video competition. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any video they submit has been filmed with the permission of the subject(s) and/or venue/location and does not infringe the copyright of any third party. The entrant warrants that they own the copyright for the video and that their entry does not infringe the privacy rights, copyright or any other rights of any person.
You may, but are in no way obliged to, make use of the European Commission Audiovisual Services to obtain copyright-free quality footage.
The entrant warrants that they have obtained permission of those pictured in the video (or, where the video shows any persons under 18, the consent of their parent/guardian) for the usage rights required by the competition and will indemnify the EEA against any claims made by any third parties in respect of such infringement.
You may download and use a generic Consent Form for this purpose.
Copyright of a video submitted for this competition remains with the respective entrants. However, in consideration of their providing the contest, each entrant grants a worldwide royalty-free perpetual license to the European Environment Agency to feature any or all of the submitted video in any and all media for publicity and marketing purposes.
If your video is shortlisted, we will publish your name alongside it wherever used as part of the video contest.
The judges will look for a creative, engaging and inspiring video on the topic of the contest. Feel free to demonstrate your motion graphic skills. If your video will be shot with a camcorder, Hi-Definition is preferred (if possible) and use of tripod encouraged.
Your video will be judged on:
• Effectiveness and creativity in conveying your idea(s)
• Originality
• Production quality
It should NOT contain any copyrighted material unless you bought the rights. Use only original music in your video (i.e., music that you have produced), or use royalty-free and/or rights-free music.
The organisers and judges reserve the right to remove any entries from the competition that they feel may breach any of these terms and conditions or contravene laws of public decency or may bring the entrant or the competition into disrepute. Such entries will be disqualified.
This includes videos that may be offensive, previously published, copyrighted (by somebody other than the entrant) or otherwise contrary to the spirit of the contest. Videos may also not be accepted into the contest if the focus of the video is an identifiable individual who has not given their consent to appear or if videos feature advertising or trademarks which would otherwise require the EEA to obtain permission to use.
The winners will be notified by email therefore it is crucial to provide correct contact information. Due to the potentially large volume of videos submitted only those shortlisted will be notified.
It is the responsibility of the winners to have personal documents (such as passport, national ID card, or visa) necessary to travel to Copenhagen, Denmark.
For the processing of this contest, EEA observe the rules set in Regulation (EC) No 45/2001 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data by Community institutions and bodies and on the free movement of such data (OJEU L 8 of 12.1.2001, p. 1).
