What is NATLAN?

NATLAN (NATure/LANd cover) is an information package designed for viewing and distributing information and applications on topics like land cover and nature in a comprehensive and user-friendly way A lot of information on the environment is linked to nature sites and areas, e.g. the geographical distribution of forests. In the Agency and its topic centres large amounts of such geo-referenced data are being collected and used in the Agency's environment assessment reports. The purpose of NATLAN is to give public access to this information with the help of maps. NATLAN allows navigation and viewing of information on different topics for any chosen area in Europe. It contains simple tools for viewing, zooming and downloading. Explanatory text and reports relevant to the understanding and use of the data are included.
