The European Environment Agency (EEA) invited you to share your thoughts, concerns and views in a photography competition 'Environment & Me'. We asked you for photos that depict a personal or a generic story, and that focus on any of the environmental topics listed in the "Competition details" section below.
The winning entries were announced on 16 December 2014. Check out the five stunning photographs, selected by our external jury and the public as winners.
The submissions closed on 30 September and the competition finalists have been selected.
The competition winners in all categories, i.e. the winners of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd prize, youth prize and People's Choice Award, were announced on 16 December 2014.
Entrants could focus on different topics and the list of topics below was provided for inspiration:

The winners will be awarded cash prizes of EUR 2000 for the 1st prize, EUR 1500 for the 2nd prize, EUR 1000 for the 3rd prize and EUR 500 for People's Choice award and youth prize.
The Youth Prize will be awarded to the winning entry, selected among those submitted by persons aged between 18 and 24 (born in calendar years 1990-1996).
All the finalists have been put forward for the People's Choice Award and may also feature in future digital and print material from the EEA and its European partners.
Copyright of the materials submitted for this competition remains with the respective entrants. However, each entrant grants the EEA the right to use the submitted materials in its environmental communication crediting the copyright owners.
The EEA has appointed a pre-selection committee consisting of communication and environment experts that will select 30-50 finalists, which will then be submitted to an external jury. The jury composed of environmental communication experts from across Europe will determine the winners, with the exception of the People's Choice Award.
For the People's Choice Award, the entries from the finalists put forward by the pre-selection committee were open for a public vote from 15 October to 15 November 2014.
The winners will be notified by email. Therefore it is crucial to provide correct contact information. The announcement of the winners will be made in December 2014.
