Copenhagen Culture Night (Kulturnatten) at EEA 2010

For the 5th year, the EEA will open its doors to the public during Copenhagen Culture Night on 15 October, 2010. Culture Night is the annual event in Copenhagen, where cultural institutions and lots of other organisations offer a wide range of activities in an open-house setting.

This year's EEA programme will focus on biodiversity and quality of life in cities, within the UN International year of Biodiversity. Our Living Façade, re-vamped with a light installation for the occasion, will be at the heart of the event.

Program for the evening:

16.15	The EEA's Executive Director, Prof Jacqueline McGlade, will open the evening
16.15 – 17.30	Biodiversity and Quality of Life in Cities (debate in English) To ensure a diverse and exciting debate, we put together a panel of participants with very different approaches to the subject: Birgit Georgi, Project Manager on urban issues at the EEA, will start by addressing some of the European trends and challenges related to green urban planning, Niels Peter Flint, Sustainable Vision Designer from NPFlint consultancy, will share his vision on the utopian city and Lykke Leonardsen, Head of the Strategy Department of Parks and Nature for Copenhagen Municipality, will address some of the strategic and practical implications of green urban planning. Ronan Uhel, Head of the Natural Systems and Vulnerability Programme at the EEA, will moderate the debate.
17.00 – 18.45	’Og så gik der liv i jorden…’ (And then there was life…) Interactive musical storytelling and workshop on biodiversity by Dramateket
18.30; 19.00; 19.30	How the Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf became friends An ‘un-natural’ version of the fairytale performed by Ballerup Youth School
20.30 – 22.00	Concert: Agenda - Anne Eltard with trio A unique groovy and acoustic sound spiced up with lively gypsy influence

 And also during the whole evening:

• The Living Façade exhibition corner (experts, architect and engineer answering your questions, posters and photo slide show)
• Light installation on the Living Façade  
• Pumpkin delicacies and organic drinks for sale to visitors
  
• Mattias Klum photo exhibition "Living Green"
• Some staff will welcome visitors at the entrance dressed up with a Carrot and a Pumpkin costume
