The last column shows the energy intensity measured in purchasing power standards. These are currency conversion rates that convert to a common currency and equalise the purchasing power of different currencies. They eliminate differences in price levels between countries, allowing meaningful volume comparisons of GDP. They are an optimal unit for benchmarking country performance in a particular year. TOE refers to tonnes of oil equivalent. No energy data for Liechtenstein available from Eurostat. The graph covers the years from 1995 - 2002.
