This chapter presents the progress achieved by the European Union in reducing its greenhouse gas emissions in view of its short and longer-term climate mitigation objectives. It also presents trends and projections of emissions in the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS), under Effort Sharing, as well as for land-use and forestry activities.
