The EEA has shortlisted 41 entries out of 1300 pictures submitted from across Europe for final top prize consideration.
This year’s finalists captured amazing shots from a 102-year-old lady enjoying her evening dance in a Milan city park, highlighting charming neighbourhoods, to making eye contact with a city-fox out for a walk on the street in Lovasbereny, Hungary, which features in the wildlife in the city category.
The finalists reflect the Urban Treasures’ call to capture the essence of our cities and towns through inspiring moments that give us joy and hope for a more sustainable tomorrow. The urban theme celebrates the positive strides we are making towards a better environment and encourages a reflection on how we can build more eco-friendly and liveable neighbourhoods.
Photographers submitted their best shots in three categories:
- Wildlife in the city;
- Charming neighbourhoods;
- and green at heart
Winners will be chosen for each category and receive a cash prize of EUR 1,000. Additional prizes are awarded to the best youth entry as well as the public’s favourite photo.
Citizens across Europe can now vote for their favourite photos and help select the winner of the category “Public Choice Award”. You can vote for as many photos as you want but each person is only allowed to vote once.
