The EEA delivers the following standard services to its main stakeholders, such as policymakers and institutional partners in the member countries and at the EU level:

  • Reporting services
The EEA places significant emphasis on robust data collection and reporting. We use rigorous methodologies to gather environmental data from various sources, including national authorities, research institutions and monitoring networks. These data encompass a wide range of parameters, from air and water quality to biodiversity and climate data. The EEA provides modern reporting infrastructure through our ReportNet system to enable effective and efficient data collection. Through standardised protocols and quality assurance procedures, we ensure that the collected data are accurate, reliable and comparable across different regions and timeframes.

Once the data are collected, we compile and process them into comprehensive data sets. These data sets are meticulously organised, annotated and archived, and made accessible to a wide audience. Additionally, we often collaborate with national and international partners to make sure data sets are as complete and relevant as possible.

  • Data services
The EEA provides technical support, training, resources, tools and guidelines to member countries to ensure that the data they collect and report are standardised, high-quality and accessible. We use advanced technologies and data management systems to make the data easy to find and analyse. Through the EEA DataHub, we provide search, exploration and download infrastructure for data, statistics and indicators. The EEA also makes data available in a variety of formats to communicate key information to its stakeholders, including data visualisations, dashboards and map explorers.
  • Knowledge services
  • The EEA produces reports and briefings that offer in-depth analyses on topics like air quality, biodiversity, climate change and more. In addition, we develop and refine environmental indicators. These indicators serve as key metrics for tracking environmental trends and performance over time. We also provide deeper technical information and insights through dedicated Environmental Information Systems and the EEA website, bringing together knowledge about topics such as climate adaptation, energy, water, forests and biodiversity. EEA assessments and technical information systems together provide valuable insights into the state of the environment in Europe, helping inform policy decisions and actions.

  • Networking services
  • In addition to Eionet, the EEA engages with various other networks and stakeholders including governmental bodies, research institutions, non-governmental organisations and the public. We also organise workshops, conferences and training sessions to foster collaboration among stakeholders. By actively engaging and supporting our network and stakeholders, we play a pivotal role in strengthening the collective effort towards environmental protection and sustainability in Europe. Through its role as an entrusted entity for the Copernicus Land Monitoring Service, the EEA collaborates with a wider range of stakeholders to advance the use of Earth observation technology for Europe’s climate, environmental and sustainability goals.

The EEA corporate website is the central access point to all our services and outputs.
