Methodology

The percentages of municipal waste landfilled, incinerated, recycled (material recycling + other recycling) are calculated as share of municipal waste generated and countries classified according to the chosen categories.

Note: Each country can be included in several waste management categories so the total number of countries is greater than 32. The number of countries is indicated in the white boxes.

For Iceland is used 2008 data for 2010. For Slovenia 2002 data are used for 2001 and 2009 data are used for 2010. Croatia is not included for 2001
