This figure shows municipal waste recycling and composting rates for individual European countries in 2010 and 2022.
The recycling rate for municipal waste was calculated as the percentage of municipal waste generated that is recycled. Recycling of municipal waste includes material recycling and composting/anaerobic digestion.
Notes on data quality and availability: data for 2021 was used instead of 2022 for Czechia. Data for 2011 was used instead of 2010 for Denmark. Data for 2020 was used instead of 2022 for Ireland. Data for 2021 was used instead of 2022 for Greece.
